Enrollment Guidelines

Every year, beginning the first week of January, we accept applications for our 6th, 7th and 8th grades for the following school year. We will accept applications from January 7 until March 21. Returning students have priority for enrollment, so we have few spots available in our 6th, 7th and 8th grades each year. In addition, DC Charter law gives priority to siblings. A student’s application will not be considered complete without copies of their most recent report card, last year’s standardized test scores, have documentation of DC residency, and a completely filled out application. Only students with a completed application will be eligible for the lottery. The lottery will be held on April 1 to determine the order of the wait list. All students’ names will be drawn in the lottery to establish the waitlist, and as spots become available, students will be called off the list. All waitlists are for that school year only and do not rollover for the following year. Students who submit applications after March 21 will automatically be placed at the end of the waitlist.

  • Students must be 11 or younger on the first day of school in the fall if they are entering the 5th Grade.
  • Students must be 12 or younger on the first day of school in the fall if they are entering the 6th Grade.
  • Students must be 13 or younger on the first day of school in the fall if they are entering the 7th Grade.
  • Students must be 14 or younger on the first day of school in the fall if they are entering the 8th Grade.

KIPP Orientation Team Meeting

After students have been admitted, school officials will contact families to schedule an appointment to complete the KIPP Orientation Team meeting (KOT). The purpose of the KOT is to meet with families to explain school expectations, outline school policies, and ensure all paperwork is in order. Students are not officially enrolled until the KOT is complete and all necessary paperwork is signed.
