About KIPP Foundation

KIPP, the Knowledge is Power Program, is a unique network of schools around the country that provides historically underserved students with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to succeed in top-quality high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond. KIPP is a nation-wide effort that helps start exemplary schools based on the Five Pillars – high expectations for academic achievement and conduct; choice and commitment to success at school; more time spent at school; power to lead locally; and a focus on results.
KIPP's national staff generates support for new community schools, recruits and trains school leaders to open their own public schools, and provides extensive support services to KIPP Schools once they are launched. With 44 KIPP Schools in existence and 7 more scheduled to open in summer 2006, KIPP is quickly proving that hard work and commitment to excellence can make a huge difference in the lives of children all across the United States.
