KIPP DC: LEAP Academy is KIPP DC’s first early learning school. LEAP opened in July of 2007 at 1720 Minnesota Avenue SE. LEAP is currently serving Pre-Kindergarten students (age 4) during the 2007-2008 school year and will expand, ultimately serving students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade.
Laura Bowen is LEAP Academy’s inaugural principal. Prior to being selected for KIPP Leadership, Ms. Bowen taught fifth grade for five years and served as KEY Academy’s vice principal during the 2005-2006 school year.
