Sarah J. Hanks

Sarah J. Hanks is KEY Academy's orchestra teacher. She joined our team and family at the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year. During her first year of teaching, Mrs. Hanks was named as a finalist for the D.C. First Year Teacher Award. Before teaching at KEY, Mrs. Hanks served as a substitute teacher for K-12 students in Tallahassee, Florida. She also served as a student teaching intern where she was responsible for team teaching 6 – 12 orchestra classes and a high school guitar class. Mrs. Hanks has studied the violin since the age of six and has been a violin coach and assistant director of the primos orchestra for the Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra. Mrs. Hanks earned a Bachelor of Music Education Instrumental from Florida State University's School of Music.
