Class Of 2022 Travel Grants

The KIPP Forward team gave out 30 travel grants to seniors from KIPP DC College Preparatory and KIPP DC Legacy College Preparatory. Each student had the opportunity to visit Universities / Colleges or programs that they have been accepted to. Check out some of their experiences below!

Current School: KIPP DC College Preparatory

Schools Visited: Marshall University and Eastern University

What is something valuable you gained or learned on this visit? “Eastern welcomed me with open arms. Marshall has a nice campus.”


 

Student Name: Jerome Hinkle Jr.

Current School: KIPP DC College Preparatory

Schools Visited: North Carolina A&T and Davidson College

What is something valuable you gained or learned on this visit? “The visit allowed me to get a glimpse of the overall culture of the schools. I were able to envision where and how I would fit in. Online rankings and other information that can be found online are great tools, however it is not the only tool you should use when deciding on a school.  Sometimes you have to just be there.”

Current School: KIPP DC College Preparatory

Schools Visited: New York University and Pace University

What is something valuable you gained or learned on this visit? “I was able to see the differences in the two schools I visited and learn that Pace University is more of my speed.”

What is something valuable you gained or learned on this visit? “I learned that college will take hard work and dedication to achieve my goals.”

What is something valuable you gained or learned on this visit? “I got knowledge of the founder and what the school dynamic are. It’s a good foundation for me.”
