KIPP DC is committed to an equitable and transformative education for all. At the heart of this work are our student support staff who support mental health, language skills, lead special education compliance, work one-on-one with students with Individualized Education Plans, and much much more.
Special educator
Special educators at KIPP DC provide interventions that support students meeting their Individualized Education Plan goals in inclusion, resource, and pull-out settings. We require a bachelor’s degree and strongly prefer special education teaching experience.
Student Support compliance manager
These year-round staff members manage the Individualized Education Plan process at a KIPP DC campus. We look for candidates with at least 4 years of special education experience.
Mental Health Practitioner
Our mental health team is staffed by social workers and counselors who provide direct services to students and families. To be qualified, you mast have a masters degree in social work or counseling and be licensed by the District of Columbia Department of Health.
School Psychologist
Our school psychologists manage evaluations for students referred to the student support team. They play a key role in the creation of students’ Individualized Education Plans. School Psychologists must hold a Master’s Degree in School Psychology, Educational or Clinical Psychology and be certified by the District of Columbia Department of Health.
Occupational Therapist
Licensed occupational therapists provide push-in and pull-out supports to facilitate occupational performance. OTs must successfully complete and graduate from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT.
Speech language Pathologist
Licensed speech language pathologists provide push-in and pull-out supports to address existing speech or language impairments. SLPs must have earned a masters from an accredited speech language program and be ASHA certified or Clinical Fellow.
Additional roles, such as dedicated aide, behavior analyst, campus director of student support, special education instructional coach, etc. are also part of our robust student support team.
