KIPP DC is proud to celebrate the contributions of our families in the community. This month, we’re spotlighting Ms. Leslie Bilbrue, a DMV native, a longtime KIPP DC family member, and a parent of two KIPPsters at the Benning Campus.
Ms. Bilbrue has been a part of the KIPP DC family since 2015. She’s constantly involved in school events to support campus engagement or awareness. Her love for crafting projects also comes in handy, as she continues to assist with decorating for various occasions. “I love to help out when it comes to decorating. My mom and I are big crafters. When my son was in Kindergarten, we started making bulletin boards for a community event, and since then, I started becoming more involved.”
Her involvement stems from being a strong leader for her children and the partnership received from our staff. “I have amazing relationships with KIPP DC teachers, and I love helping because they are dedicated to our children. They spend more time with our children during the day than I do, so if I can do anything to help, I’m there.”
Ms. Bilbrue shared that her favorite value about KIPP DC is the fact that her children are provided with healthy educational challenges. “I immediately fell in love with the curriculum. Every subject provides stimulating growth, and I appreciate the push.I want our children to excel.”
When she’s not working as a payroll manager for an entertainment company in DC or managing her online business store, she’s still on the go! Ms. Bilbrue can be found cheering her children’s extracurricular activities or volunteering in the District. We are thrilled to have her as a community member and January’s Parent Spotlight!
