At KIPP DC, we are privileged to highlight the remarkable contributions of our committed parents. This February, we are honored to shine a spotlight on Ron Davis Sr., a dedicated advocate and devoted father to a promising student at our Benning Campus.
Originally hailing from Kansas, Mr. Davis has been an integral part of the DC community for the past two years. While his professional journey has spanned various landscapes—from college football to entrepreneurship—his passion lies in fostering a nurturing environment for his children’s education.
His journey with KIPP DC began when his son, Ron Davis II, enrolled at Promise Academy. Recognizing the importance of parental involvement, Mr. Davis eagerly joined the ranks of the KIPP DC Parent Advisory Board, driven by a desire to contribute positively to the educational landscape and empower fellow parents.
Reflecting on his commitment, Mr. Davis shared, “I’ve always believed in being an active participant in my child’s education. Joining the Parent Advisory Board was a natural extension of that commitment, allowing me to advocate for the needs of our children and ensure they receive the best education possible.”
Mr. Davis’s impact extends far beyond the boardroom. He is a steadfast supporter of KIPP DC’s mission, consistently going above and beyond to engage with teachers and administrators, providing invaluable insights and support.
Mr. Davis has deeply appreciated the steadfast dedication of KIPP DC staff, particularly during challenging periods. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “Last year, my son faced a month-long illness. Despite his absence, the exceptional care provided by his teachers, notably Ms. Bryan, under the guidance of Principal Simmons, was truly remarkable.” He continued, “They organized Zoom sessions to keep him connected with his classmates. As a family without nearby relatives, their care not only strengthened our relationship with his teacher but also fostered a strong bond with the entire KIPP staff.”
Beyond his role within the KIPP DC family, Mr. Davis finds fulfillment in giving back to the community. Whether through fraternity engagements or advocating for cultural sensitivity, he remains committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
