City Year Volunteers celebrate MLK Day of Service at Shaw Campus
On January 15, nearly 400 volunteers pitched in to help beautify KIPP DC’s Shaw Campus as part of City Year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service! Volunteers designed, prepared materials, and painted several murals throughout the campus. Read more and view photos of the beautiful murals.
Students return to KIPP DC College Preparatory for annual Alumni Panel
On January 9, the KIPP Through College & Career team welcomed alumni back to KIPP DC College Preparatory for their annual Alumni Panel. Alumni spoke to 11th and 12th grade students on a variety of topics – from applying and accepting scholarships, to the importance of time management and preparation while in college. Each year, we’re pleased to see the eagerness of alumni to share their personal experiences and the curiosity of seniors who are on the cusp of choosing which college to attend. Read more.
Parents, Coffee, & Conversation at Dunkin Donuts
The community relations team kicked off 2018 by recognizing and celebrating KIPP DC families and champions! Thanks to all for braving the freezing temperatures and enjoying ‘Coffee & Conversations’ at Dunkin’ Donuts in Ward 7 with our team. We look forward to a year of exciting initiatives.
Family Fit Night begins at KIPP DC Douglass Campus
This month our friends at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital & Fit Inc. kicked off ‘Family Fit Night’ at KIPP DC’s Douglass Campus in Ward 8. Families from both AIM Academy and Heights Academy participated in a series of healthy and fast-moving activities, including Boot Camp, Zumba, Yoga, and Martial Arts workshops. Students and families even learned nutritional tips from the experts. We can’t wait to see you next month!
Young Men’s Empowerment Summit – February 24, 2018 – RSVP
In partnership with the DC Commission of Men, Fathers, and Boys, we’re bringing together young men (12-18) from across Washington, D.C. to engage in meaningful activities related to empowerment, civic responsibility, self-care, and identity.
