This spring our KIPP DC College Prep hosted their 2nd annual musical production: Bring it On!
In December, nearly 75 students auditioned and about 40 were chosen to be part of the musical production at KCP. Preparation for a successful show was no walk in the park! In the past few months students dedicated numerous hours, even many Saturday’s, to prepare for the 3-night performance.
In addition to the excellent direction from KCP’s theater department, students also had the opportunity to get direction from Broadway professionals! Through a partnership with Broadway Dreams Foundation, students were able to get direction from professionals who were part of the original cast of Bring it On! Over President’s Day weekend, students worked 8-hour days with Broadway Dreams coaches to ensure they were ready. In the end, the coaches were so impressed that four of our students (Da’ja Williams, Taylor Bryan, Jniya White, and Maurice Jackson) were offered scholarships to attend their Summer Intensive weeklong workshop!
Huge Congrats and thanks to the KCP Theater Department, Caity Schneeman, Joella Braun, Meg Miraglia and Beth Raymond for all their hard work and commitment.
