Meet Mrs. Crystal Harper | KIPP DC Benning Campus
KIPP DC is proud to celebrate the contributions of our families in the community. This month, we’re spotlighting Mrs. Crystal Harper, a DC native and a parent of two KIPPsters at our Benning Campus. She’s been part of the KIPP DC community for ten years and is always excited to volunteer on campus.
Mrs. Harper works full-time for NASA and loves spoiling the Benning community with exclusive merchandise. “Every year during Teacher Appreciation Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, etc., I ensure the science teachers have whatever cool item NASA is giving away, such as stickers, pins, or even kits to build mini rockets!“
She enjoys volunteering for field trips and building relationships with staff to have an open line of communication. “Volunteering my time to support my children’s educational experience is important. I’m determined to be present and available for the Benning Campus. I formed meaningful relationships with educators throughout the years due to my presentence and availability.“
Her involvement with KIPP DC stems from the desire to see her children excel and the support received from the staff. “The KIPP DC community embodies family connection. The administrators, the principal, and the office personnel truly care for our children. The attention they need from teachers to thrive, and excel is provided daily. I love the passion behind academics at KIPP DC.“
When she’s not volunteering on campus or working at NASA, she enjoys attending her children’s extracurricular activities and practicing her crafting skills by doing DIY projects. We are thrilled to have her as a community member and February’s Parent Spotlight!
