KIPP DC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Susan Toth as its new Superintendent, effective October 1, 2024. This significant development is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen KIPP DC’s academic infrastructure and instructional support as the network continues to focus on academic excellence and recovery following the pandemic.
Susan Toth, a longtime and highly respected leader within KIPP DC, will transition from her role as Chief Academic Officer to Superintendent. With over two decades of experience in education, Susan’s journey began with Seattle Public Schools, where she advanced from a classroom teacher to a middle school assistant principal and principal. She joined KIPP DC in 2012 as the Director of Secondary Academics and swiftly moved into the Chief Academic Officer role. Under her leadership, KIPP DC achieved remarkable student success and became the highest-performing PreK-12 public school system in Washington, D.C. In recent years, Susan has been instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive instructional strategy to support academic recovery in the wake of the pandemic.
Susan’s deep commitment to educational excellence and her innovative approach have significantly enriched the learning environment at KIPP DC. As Superintendent, she will oversee KIPP DC’s academic strategy and work closely with the Chief of Schools, Mekia Love, and a new Chief Academic Officer, who will be recruited to succeed Susan in her previous role. Susan will continue to report to the Chief Executive Officer and will work collaboratively with the executive team to drive academic success across the network.
KIPP DC is excited for the future under Susan Toth’s leadership and looks forward to a successful and impactful 2024-25 school year.
