On Thursday, February 15, KIPP DC students had the opportunity to perform with the The Global Leaders Program, in partnership with YOA Orchestra of the Americas!
KIPPsters from both KIPP DC KEY Academy and KIPP DC Northeast Academy had the opportunity to learn from and perform alongside Global Leaders program. Musicians from Brazil, Colombia, Canada, and the Dominican Republic came to Washington, D.C. to work with KIPP DC students over a two-week period. Global Leaders assisted students with their form, mastering new songs, and learning the history of different music genres. In front of nearly 100 staff and family members, KIPPSters performed an array of favorites, including “Glory” from the movie Selma, and captivated the audience at KIPP DC College Preparatory.
Special thanks to KEY Academy’s Dawn Johnson and Northeast Academy’s Kendall Isadore and Élise Cuffy for their tremendous dedication to our KIPPsters’ success.
We look forward to having you at this special event next year. Check out more photos.
